I am delighted to welcome Emer Coleman to GDS, as Deputy Director of Digital Engagement. We have always supported digital engagement at GDS, and Emer’s appointment will raise our game as we develop more products and services with partners and developers inside and outside Government. Emer’s experience in Government, and particularly in freeing-up transport data and her work at the Greater London Authority, means we have another great talent at the Government Digital Service. Here is why Emer is joining, in her own words:
“I have been fortunate to have been working in the field of open data and open governance for the past two years in my role as Director of Digital Projects in the Greater London Authority. In that time my focus has been on London as a city and how collaboration between technologists and the state can create conditions where innovation flourishes to the benefit of the citizen. I hope my experience in London will benefit GDS as it continues its journey to embed digital by default across the whole of Government. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of revolutionising Government digital services, if not a little daunted to say the least. I hope that the collaboration with those interested in the public realm, which was the hallmark of my work in the London Datastore, continues and grows in my role in GDS. I look forward to continuing that conversation”.
